FInal Project Update

Headache.

So this is what I have so far. A rough sketch of the first three (out of six) title cards. It's still pretty rough but there are a number of things I will have to improve on:

1. The timing
2. The font is temporary. I plan on replacing it with a soviet style font.
3.some of the mask work is a little rough
4. some sound effects
5. The design of the first card is quite temporary. I havent decided on how I want to change it.
6. I want to add signs of wear and tatter to the second title card since I will have bullet sound effects. ( maybe using the burn tool in PS)

I really only have one more very challenging title card and then the last two will be a bit easier. I think adding the polish will be the most time consuming.

Here it is-

Final Project Pitch

Pitch:
I want to create an ending credits sequence to a movie I made last semester, Intern Revolution. I will be using sino and soviet propaganda posters as my main source images and inspiration. I will be including a lot of text effects, some 3-D, particles, image manipulation in photoshop, and a constantly shifting camera.

Proposal:
I will be creating slides for myself, my crew and my main actors. It will be a total of 7 credit slides that will seamlessly transition from one to another. After that, I will have the remainder of my credits scroll down in a classic fashion. It should last no longer than one minute.

It will be synced with the Red Army Choir operatic classic, My Army (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyNNLcpBMjg).

There will be no fades or cuts. I want there to be seamless and creative transitions from one credit to the next.

Asset List
1.Comunist posters
-proletariat
-Lenin
-Marx and Engels
-armed soldier
-Mao
-Lenin and Stalin
-Hammer and Sickle decal
2. soviet-style font
3.Particle Effects
- red stars
Note: will have to incorporate an actual shape within the raining stars, for the camera will follow the path of one prominent star to the next card.
4.Possible Masking Effect.
-One of the most difficult effects I have planned out at the moment is one that involved this image:

I want to start with the camera to start on the same plane as the hamer and sickle. This is where the 3-D comes in. The Hammer and Sickle will drop right in front of the camera. then each white streak will whizz by the camera to the sound of bullets firing and fall in to place to create the image of the dove. However, from the current perspective of the camera, it will not look like a dove. After all the "bullets" have whizzed by, the camera returns to its overhead, flat view to reveal the finished image. Then the DP and editor names will follow at the bottom.

I will either have to use a masking effect to have the white streaks come one at a time, or I will have to isolate them each as a separate layer and move them each in place. I believe it can be done with masking.

Schedule:
Week one- compile images, sketch out each slide and decide how they will be executed
week two- create basic layout of each slide and make sure each transition is possible
week three- finalize the animations, camera movements and effects within each slide
week four- polish to perfection

Wish me Luck

Updated Mega Man

This is an updated version of my short mega man square-off. Using particles, I was able to create a more interesting and ynamic explosion when Quick man meets his swift demise.

Motion Tracking

Bat Signal from Jared Bauer on Vimeo.

Here's an example of basic motion tracking. The original footage was in broad daylight, so I darkened it and put a tint on it to give it the old-school noir Batman feeling. Enjoy.
